The electronic cigarette to me is the greatest invention since the wheel. I am not making an exaggeration. I sit out on my front balcony every night and find myself speechless at how amazing it is.

It has saved my life, period. In regards to the ban...

Human Rights Act 1998:

Quote:
"Everyone’s right to life shall be protected by law."

Since the loss of life is greatly increased by the absence of a life saving product*, the banning of e-cigarettes is a breach of this act.

*The e-cigarette was invented because it is fact that most smokers cannot quit easily, if at all. Therefore the addiction to tobacco and nicotine is classified as a life threatening condition. It is a physical syndrome, not just psychological.

Claiming it to be one’s obligation to quit, when it is in many cases proven to be very much impossible, is contradictory to the Government's own introduction of other nicotine replacement products for the same purpose. Therefore any products that aid the prevention of this condition are classified as life saving products and by law cannot be made illegal.

Quote:
"Every natural or legal person is entitled to the peaceful enjoyment of his possessions. No one shall be deprived of his possessions except in the public interest and subject to the conditions provided for by law and by the general principles of international law."

Since the e-cigarette comes under the classification of "peaceful enjoyment of one's possessions"*, and that they are not "subject to any condition provided for by law" (that might make them illegal), the banning of e-cigarettes is a breach of this act.

*The banning of the right to refill your previously purchased e-cigarette device is a ban on the right to the peaceful enjoyment of one's possessions.

THE government have zero scientific evidence to prove the product is unhealthy. In fact the FDA's own investigation claimed, that although some brands are imperfect, generally the combination of technology and chemicals in an electronic cigarette are not a threat to the public health.

Besides, in comparison to a cigarette...???? Get a life - you're talking nonsense and you need help.

Banning the electronic cigarette would be the worst mistake any government has ever made.

It's obvious this ban is all bullshit. For example, in the UK, the government want to ban it because it is classified as a "recreational nicotine product", which exempting cigarettes, are already banned! I mean come on - you would have to be as dumb as a donut to not see there was something plainly criminal going on here.

Worse than that, in NZ they are allowed - only NOT with nicotine!? If there was something wrong with them, they wouldn't be allowed in NZ - and so allowing them WITHOUT nicotine?!?!? Come on! How IN YOUR FACE are they? Stand up for your rights!

Give us back our e-cigs - we DO NOT want to die.

Yours sincerely,

Sime Jepps

I tried Chantix. I tried the nicotine gum. I tried the patch. I tried Zyban or wellbutrin. I tried sitting on my hands. I tried lollypops. I tried jolly ranchers. I swear if it was said to be a possible way to quit smoking I tried it. Especially after adopting our son 5 years ago, I really didn't want him breathing the smoke, but we live in Upstate NY and I wasn't gonna stand outside all winter (which last forever here) and smoke.

So I kept looking.....and looking. I was a 2-2.5 pack a day smoker and at 38 had been smoking for 23 years before I got my ecig. About 2 months before I decided to try the ecig my husband rushed me to the ER becuz I was having severe chest pain and shortness of breath. At the time I'd have sworn I was having a heart attack at 38. Fortunately, it wasn't a heart attack. It was a condition called Pleurisy (an inflammation of the pleura or lining of the lungs) It hurt. It hurt when I inhaled it hurt when i exhaled it hurt when I swallowed it hurt even more when i laid down in bed. So I tried the gum again....didn't work....again.

Then we did a bit of research on the ecig got the money together and ordered one. I received mine on June 16 2010 and as of this message (July 14 2010) I have not had a SINGLE SOLITARY CIGARETTE!! There is no more pain when ever I inhale or exhale. I do still get a little discomfort when i lay down but that's probably because my lungs are so used to the abuse they've gotten for the past 23 years.

When I got my ecig I ordered 36 mg nic juice because as a 2 to 2.5 pack a day smoker I felt that would actually be dropping my nicotine level a bit. Last week I started getting headaches with that so I dropped to 24mg. So it's even working to slowly get me off nicotine. A couple of days after my ecig came I was positive I wanted to continue it and so ordered more supplies.

At that time my husband said "order me a bottle of the juice. I don't really want to DO it but I'll try it for a day or two." When that order came in he said I'll try it tomorrow. SO he did. ALL day one day he used nothing but the ecig.

He came home after work and smoked a few cigarettes the next day. (He works third shift if this sounds kinda off as far as time lines go) When he got up that evening to get ready for work he was coughing and hacking so hard. The next morning I woke up to find all the ashtrays had been removed from my living room and he told me that he couldn't do that to himself anymore. So now we are both vaping instead of smoking.

My son who is 15 years old has told us he likes being able to ride in the car without feeling like he has to hang his head out the window to breathe. He enjoys the fact that he doesn't have to smoke every cigarette we smoke any more. Over fourth of july we spent time with my inlaws.

My Mother-in-law said it was really nice to be able to walk by my husband and I and not smell of tobacco. We have convinced around 15 of our friends to either try it or just out right use it.

My psychologist thinks its a wonderful device and it's working for me and he has told me he can think of many other people who this may work for.

I have told my General Practitioner about it. The nurse I actually spoke with is a smoker herself and volunteered quite readily to do the research into it herself. I probably should clarify what I mean by convinced. It wasn't by telling people about the ecig that we convinced them to try it....it was by using it when we were around them.

Sincerely
Heather D Coleman.

As a smoker of many years, I tried to quit using every imaginable method. Nothing worked. I saw the electronic cigarette in a mall in Texas and decided to give it a shot.

I had been hospitalized many times due to various smoke related illnesses and desperately wanted to quit. Within THREE DAYS of using the electronic cigarette I quit. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I have never felt better in my life!!!

I have not been ill for over a year now and I totally believe it is due to e-cigs. I recommend it to every smoker that will listen and many of my friends and family have made the great switch over. All of them thank me constantly, telling me how the various ways it has improved their lives. Banning electronic cigarettes WILL KILL PEOPLE. Please allow us to keep these life saving products!

So many great things are happening. E-liquids are being created with herbs that actually IMPROVE HEALTH AND PROMOTE LUNG HEALING!

I really can not say enough great things about this invention. It is exactly what the world needs to make a progressive step towards a healthier world.

Thank you,
Amber.

I was a smoker for 20 years. I was hooked before I was 16. Over the years I started to notice a general decline in my overall health, I had trouble breathing, sleeping, and I had bronchitis several times a year, and I always suspected that it was because of smoking. Now that I have quit (with the help of this product) I can definitely say that it was because of smoking.

The electronic cigarette has saved my life. Banning electronic cigarettes should be considered nothing short of an assault against the American citizens. An assault on our intelligence and an assault on our bodies. I had tried everything to quit. The patch left welts on my body, the gum tasted disgusting (like pepper), and Chantix made me feel suicidal. Thanks to this product, no longer am I killing myself and my family members with second hand smoke.

No longer do I wake up several times a night short of breath. No longer does my body, nor my clothes reek of smoke. This product was nothing short of a miracle for me and my family. If they somehow manage to ban this product, I will have lost all faith that my government is not totally susceptible to corruption and will no longer believe that any of its representatives have the welfare of it's citizens as its main concern.

I have been tobacco free for over a month, and have no intention of EVER smoking another cigarette. I started smoking at 13, and smoked for 36 years. The electronic cigarette has allowed me to become a non-smoker.

I have spent hours scouring the internet to find information about vaping, and it is obvious that this product is making an ever growing dent in Big Tobacco profits. Why aren't health insurers embracing this product? It seems to me a product that has less risk should be in every doctor's office in the United States, give smokers a disposable one to try, and get them off of tobacco.

Home Insurers should be happy, the risk of burning your house down by careless disposal of cigarette ashes would be non-existent. At some point common sense should prevail, it is my personal choice to vape. And the argument about flavors enticing children is insane, or haven't these idiots heard of cinnamon schnapps? Instead of banning personal vaporizers, ban tobacco. Sorry Philip Morris, I'm done with you!

Thank you for your efforts to keep these legal.
